Tasting Notes
Fragrant notes of black cherry and mulling spice give way to rich juicy flavors of boysenberry a hint of espresso, and a savory richness on the palate. The dark fruit elements are enhanced by sophisticated nuances from the time spent aging in barrel.

Vineyard Notes
Koos Family Vineyard was planted in June of 2000 on two acres of sandy loam soil in the Sonoma Coast appellation. After extensive ground preparation to create an optimal growing environment, the rows were oriented North to South allowing the vines full and even sun during the growing season. The vineyard yields are closely managed with an emphasis on balance, ripeness and character.

Vintage Notes
The 2018 growing season was a bit of a roller-coaster with heavy winter rains leading to vigorous vine growth in spring. Bloom came early, in parallel with an eclectic range of springtime temperatures. Moderate early summer temperatures gave way to several heat waves throughout the summer and into fall, heightening the rate of ripening and flavor development in the grapes, and ushering in a slightly early harvest.

Winemaker Notes
Our Koos Family Vineyard designate Pinot Noir is comprised of Dijon Clones 115 and 667. Early ripening Dijon Clone 115 affords the wine complexity in the form of savory notes; dusty aromas, hints of earth, and dried fruit flavors. The later ripening Dijon Clone 667 offers a boost of fruit driven character in the realm of Bing cherry, tart raspberry, and refreshing acidity.
